![]() I'm sad to see so many negative opinions on Twitter and Reddit already, I truly thought 31 was amazing. The entire fucking movie is horrific enough, it would have been gory and disturbing even if all the characters survived and there was not a single death. ![]() Even when a Rob Zombie movie doesn’t quite work, there’s always some visual that. I do agree that the deaths were not so gory, but I don't really think that matters. Looking to watch 31 Find out where 31 is streaming, if 31 is on Netflix, and get news and updates, on Decider. We laugh at the most twisted shit that most people would gasp at, it felt great to get a super inappropriate chuckles with the appropriate crowd. I loved the fact the there were only true horror fans in the theater. Sex definitely inadvertently had a Harley Quinn feel to her, crazy killer clown girl. Sickhead, Psychohead, Schitzohead, Death and Sex, and lastly Doomhead. I do not entirely disagree with the negative reviews, but all of the reasons people claim they did not like it did not matter to me. This movie is heavy metal as fuck, I felt super pumped after getting out of the theater. I rocked out to Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy my whole way home. Also, Doomhead was well-rendered and expertly performed. He hasn't made a great one yet, but there's lots for his fans to feast on in this one, and I think it is a strong indicator for his next project. I'm glad to see Zombie back to making films in his voice. ![]() There were moments I audibly groaned at the dialogue, but I thought it was more self aware than his previous films, and wise to leave plenty of ambiguity in the script. I was relieved however, that this film shed the dour earnestness of both of the Halloween films and Lords of Salem, all of which I did not like, and instead was what I go to see a Rob Zombie film for: a sandbox of heavy metal, horror, and exploitation tropes smeared together with memorable splattherhouse imagery. There are definitely flashes of horror auteur brilliance throughout his films, but he hasn't made an enduring work or told a great story, in my opinion.
